Celebrating Nurses

Posted by Deanna Wallin

Nurses… they see us at the best of times and the worst of times.

They teach first-time mothers how to feed their babies. After accidents, they wipe away tears and clean wounds. They hold patients’ hands and administer life-saving drugs. Above all, they provide hope, guidance and comfort when we need it most.

I learned the virtues of nursing by watching my mother, who was an LPN for 30 years. It’s a grueling profession. 12-hour shifts and daily interactions that tug at your heartstrings.

Nevertheless, it’s also an incredibly rewarding career. My mother inspired me to follow in her footsteps. Before founding Naples Soap Company, I worked as a hospital floor nurse, and in-home healthcare for 15 years.

It is with great pride that I share that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. My daughter represents our third generation in the medical field. I smile from ear-to-ear when I get the chance to talk about my daughter, who is now a doctor. She is a plastic and reconstructive surgery resident at Stanford University. I am one super proud momma.

May 6-12 Is National Nurses Week

In honor of all the women and men who work in this field, we will provide 20% off all in-store purchases for anyone who shows a valid medical badge from May 6-12 in stores.

For online shoppers, we will donate a percentage of all online sales up to $5,000 during National Nurses Week to the Lorenzo Walker Technical College in Naples, Florida. This donation will be used to provide tuition assistance for aspiring nurses.

Please join me in celebrating National Nurses Week through words, notes and acts of kindness for the many selfless nursing professionals in your community.

Take Care,
