Key Ingredients to Look for in Bath Bombs

Bath bombs have hit it big! You can purchase these self care sensations in lots of places – from high-end spas to the big box retailers to your local drug store. But do you really know what you are buying or where these products are made?


Before you drop the bomb into your next bath, we urge you to read the ingredients. If you can’t pronounce what you are reading, do you really want to soak in it?

The Southwest Florida ABC 7 station recently met with Deanna Wallin, our founder, to discuss what you should look for in a bath bomb. Here is a quick summary:

First and foremost… Epsom Salt . For hundreds of years, Epsom Salt has been used to treat ailments such as muscle soreness, insomnia, arthritis, chronic pain, stress and even constipation.

Shea Butter. A natural extract from shea tree nuts, this ingredient can reduce redness and swelling. More importantly, it is an excellent moisturizer. Shea butter creates a smooth barrier that locks in skin moisture.

Essential Oils. Often used in aromatherapy, essential oils are extracted from plants such as peppermint, lavender, tea tree, sandalwood, grapefruit, lemongrass and eucalyptus. When used in bath bombs, essential oils can stimulate your senses to help you relax, breathe deeply, reduce stress, promote concentration and improve your mood.

So, next time you bring home some bath bombs, be sure to read the label. Look for products made in the USA with ingredients you know and trust.
